History of Clermont College

Clermont College was established as Clermont General and Technical College by the Ohio Board of Regents in September 1972 as a result of the University of Cincinnati's participation in the 1966 Ohio Board of Regents' "Master Plan for the State Policy in Higher Education". Under the plan, the College was designated as a college for commuting students. In 1978, the College was fulled accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Clermont College, which is situated 23 miles east of Cincinnati in Clermont County, Ohio, is a non-residential, two-year associates degree granting college of the University of Cincinnati. It is dedicated to the concept of providing diversified, comprehensive education opportunities, with emphasis placed on both baccalaureate-transfer and career-oriented programs and courses. In 1986 the name of the College was changed to Clermont College to reflect the College's changing role and status within the University.
