History of the National Sculpture Conference: Works by Women
The idea for National Sculpture Conference: Works by Women was initiated from a conversation between Patricia A. Renick and Virginia Watson-Jones in June of 1985. Watson-Jones was conducting research for her directory of American Women Sculptors and both Renick and Jones felt that women sculptors needed more national attention.
The conference took place in Cincinnati, Ohio in May of 1987. The conference was sponsored by the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). The Contemporary Arts Center held a concurrent exhibition. Patricia A. Renick served as Director, Laura H. Chapman served as Coordinator, Ann Pollak was Director of Media Relations, and Janet Anne Dalberto served as the Archivist for the conference.
