Biography of David J. Allor

David Joseph Allor was a professor of urban planning and head of the School of Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Raised in Mount Clemens, Michigan, he received his bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan in 1966, and attended graduate school at both the University of Michigan and Syracuse University. He completed a Master's degree in City Planning at Michigan in 1968 and another Master's in Social Science at Syracuse in 1972. He received a Ph.D. in Social Science from Syracuse University in 1974.

Allor taught at Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, Syracuse University , and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before accepting an Assistant Professorship in Urban Planning at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, and Art in 1976. He became Director of the School of Planning in 1989. Allor was president and trustee of the Ohio Planning Conference, helped establish the Ohio Planning Foundation and wrote the Planning Commissioners Guide. Allor received numerous awards including Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association Distinguished Service Award. He was also a Senior Fulbright research scholar.

The collection is arranged into three series: A. Academic History (Red Series) - This series is identified by a red sticker on the inside cover which contains the volume number B. International Development Planning (Yellow Series) - This series is identified by a yellow sticker on the inside cover which contains the volume number C. Research, Writings, Professional Service, and Community Service (Blue Series) - This series is identified by a blue sticker on the inside cover which contains the volume number
