History of Cincinnati Central American Task Force
The Cincinnati Central American Task Force (CCATF) was an organization of citizens opposed to U.S. intervention in Central America. Members included the religious community, clergy, trade unions, students and professors, and others. CCATF was a chapter of the U.S. Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES) and an affiliate of the Network in Solidarity with Guatemala (NISGUA) and the National Network in Solidarity with the Nicaraguan People (NNSP).
CCATF was formed in May 1980 after several informal gathering regarding the political situation in El Salvador. They were affiliated with and supported by the Sister of Charity of the College of Mt. St. Joseph until 1981. The goals of the CCATF included educating the people of Greater Cincinnati about the political reality in Central America and to mobilize the Cincinnati community to protest U.S. involvement in Central America.
