History of Prager Memorial Day

Robert Paul Prager, a German from Dresden, was a victim of the anti-German hysteria of the First World War. Prager was working as a coal miner in Collinsville, Illinois, when he was attacked by a mob, and lynched on April 5, 1918. April 5th has been designated as Prager Memorial Day: A German-American Day of Remembrance to commemorate those who suffered because of their heritage during the world wars.
