History of Third Protestant Memorial Church (Cincinnati, Ohio)
The Third Protestant Memorial Church congregation was originally part of the German Evangelical Lutheran and Reform Church, founded in 1814 by the Moravian missionary, Joseph Zaeslein. In 1839, the North German congregation members split from the church over regional differences and established the North German Lutheran Church in March 1839. Renamed the Third German Protestant Church in 1874, the Church later dropped "German" from its name after the First World War, and became the Third Protestant Memorial Church. In 1929, the Church relocated to a new building at the corner of Calhoun Street and Ohio Avenue, near the University of Cincinnati. The Third Protestant Memorial Church dissolved in 2001 due to loss of membership.
