Abstract

Dr. Mendelsohn attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for his undergraduate degree and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for his medical degree, where he graduated in 1937. Mendelsohn led the General Practitioners movement in greater Cincinnati area hospitals, helping it spread across the country. This led to the Southwestern Ohio Society of General Physicians. SOSGP formed because of the “unadorned necessity of general practitioners…to prevent foreclosure of their hospital connections and professional privileges,” (History of Society of General Physicians, Mendelsohn).
